「ついでに」って英語ではどんなふうにいえばいいのでしょうか。
日本語の「ついでに」は便利な表現ですが、いざ英語に変換しようとすると、そのときのシチュエーションによって、使えるフレーズが異なってきます。
今回は「ついでに」というときに使える英語表現を集めてみました。シチュエーション別に紹介します！
on the way / on one’s way ～へ行くついでに/ついでに立ち寄る
「on the way」「on one’s way」は、「～へ行く途中で」を表します。
Take the rubbish on your way out.
（出かけるついでにごみを捨ててきて）
On the way to the convenience store, he also stopped at the post office.
（コンビニに行ったついでに郵便局にも立ち寄った）
I went to the library to borrow some books on my way to the shops.
（買い物に行くついでに、図書館によって本を借りた）
「～からの帰りに」という場合、「on the way back」「on the way home from」などを使うと、「ある場所からの帰りがけについでに～した」という意味が明確になります。

while I’m (you’re) at そこにいるついでに
「～にいるついでに」といいたい場合、「while I’m at ～」や「while you are at ～」などを使って表現することもできます。
I’ll buy some milk while I’m at the convenience store.
（コンビニにいるついでに牛乳を買って帰るよ）

（そこに立っているついでにドア閉めてくれる？）
While I was at the station, I took some money out of my account at an ATM.
（駅に来たついでに、ATMでお金を引き出した）
「どこにいるから」と場所を取り立てて言わず、「while you’re at it」のように「it」を置いて用いることもできます。

while ～するついでに
「while」は「～する間に」を表す接続詞です。二つの出来事が同時進行しているさまを表現できます。
「ついでに」は、「何かを行う機会に乗じて～する」という意味があるため、「while」を使うことで、二つの出来事が同時進行で起こる様子を描写することが可能です。
While I make my coffee, I can make yours, too.
（コーヒーを淹いれるついでに、君のも入れてあげる）
While I cooked dinner, I also prepared tomorrow’s lunch.
（晩ご飯を作るついでに、明日の昼ご飯もつくった）
While taking out the milk (from the fridge), can you also take out the eggs?

by the way / in addition / incidentally ついでにいうと
「ついでにいうと」という場合、「by the way」「in addition」「incidentally」などが使えます。

「incidentally」は「ちなみに」「ついでに」という意味で使われる副詞です。

and / additionally ～するついでに
「ついでに」という場合、何かと何かが同時進行で起こることを示すため、シンプルに「and」を使って二つの事象をつなげることができます。
I went to Paris and visited the Louvre Museum.
（パリに行ったついでにルーブル美術館に立ち寄った）
I had my hair cut and coloured at the hairdresser’s.
（美容院で、髪を切ったついでに、カラーもしてもらった）
そのバリエーションとして、「加えて」を意味する副詞「additionally」を使ってもいいですね。

（ついでに、ここにもサインしてくれますか）
along with doing ～ するのと同時に（ついでに）
「along with doing」で「～すると同時に」を表します。
Along with opening the window, I cleaned the window frame.
（窓を開けるついでに、窓枠を掃除そうじした）
「along at the same time as」という言い方もあります。
My teeth were cleaned along at the same time as my dental check-up.
（歯科検診のついでに歯のクリーニングもしてもらった）
Since ～ / As ～ するからには、ついでに
「Since ～」「As ～」は、理由を表す接続詞として機能します。
これを使って「～したからには、ついでに…」というニュアンスを伝えることができます。

（せっかくカナダに来たんだから、ついでにナイアガラ滝を見たい）
